Abstract

There was made analysis of the literature data, national and international consensus documents on various aspects of the diagnosis of thyroid nodules. For their differential diagnosis and assessment of malignancy risk, compression of the neck and mediastinum organs, development of functional autonomy it is used a wide arsenal of diagnostic methods. The leading method of determining the diagnostic tactics, is ultrasound. The use of ultrasound THIRADS classification allows to minimize the number of unwarranted needle biopsy without compromising the detection of malignancy in cancer risk groups. A differentiated approach to the choice of the diagnostic algorithm for each individual patient provides getting an accurate diagnosis, using minimum of time and resources, as the basis of choosing of the optimal treatment strategy.
